Well, in spite of his recent legal woes, Elmo has been awesome. Kids love him everywhere and Cydney is no exception. We have been trying this potty thing for some time now. We did it before and then Cydney was over it. Gave it a break, she wasn’t having it. Rinse, and repeat fir six months.
About a week and a half ago I got pretty busy. There’s a tv in my studio room that I don’t turn on. But since Cydney is here it was time to try turning it on again so I can do some stuff while she’s watching it. I forgot the DVD that was already in was Elmo’s Potty Time. Great choice! I ler her watch it once, then twice, then I realized she should watch this a lot! This just might promote her wanting to use the potty.
It worked! She turns it on herself. She watches it maybe three times a day. Being that she picks up on things rather quickly she sings the songs and talks about the potty all the time. Eventually the behavior has changed and she takes it upon herself to sit on the potty on her own and say “Daddy Elmo Potty Toilet!” She wouldn’t go but hey, its s start.
A few days ago I brought her potty downstairs to the studio. As soon as she woke up, I put on Elmo and put Cydney on the john. After a few minutes she got up, looked in, came to me, and gave me a hug. Success! I gabe her a big celebration. She was over it and all nonchalant but it seemed like it worked. Hey, she doesn’t want to do it again quite yet but at least she’s getting there.
