My Sick Day

When you do a lot on very little sleep, eventually you will crash. Your body will say “Chill,” overheat, and shut everything down. That’s how I felt yesterday morning when I woke up. I was achy all over and feeling out of it.

My nephew was having some stomach issues so he didn’t make it to basketball camp, and my mother had running around to do and is sick anyway. So that means in spite of not feeling well, I had to hold it down in spite of having a 103 fever.

I tried to take it easy. Keep everyone contained to one room. I even tried to sneak a nap in. Wasn’t happening. It was just Wednesday for Cydney so her program didn’t change at all. For two hours I got to chill since I put on Pitch Perfect since that keeps the kids quiet. But after that, Cydney wanted to be dragged in a laundry basket saying it was a sailboat. I told her “Cydney, I don’t feel well.” She didn’t care. So I had to drag her around. For the white afternoon I was counting down until seven o’clock. That’s when her shows come on Nick Jr back to back for the hours. She’d be preoccupied and I could take it easy.

When eight rolled around, I was starting to feel like myself again. I knew that would happen. Cydney even showed mercy on me by making bedtime easy and put up a minimal fight. Gotta thank God for the little things.

It’s a new day. I’m still a little out of it, but I can function. In about about an hour Cydney will wake up and it’s time to do it all over again.
